A tragic shooting occurred Sunday morning at an apartment complex off Cliffdale Road, leaving one person dead and a community shaken. According to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at approximately 10:22 a.m. in the 600 block of Barton’s Landing Place.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an individual suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save their life, the individual was later pronounced dead.
As of now, the identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. Police have also not released any information about a possible suspect. The Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident.
This shooting, which occurred in broad daylight, has left many in the area stunned and concerned. Barton’s Landing Place, a residential complex off one of Fayetteville’s busier roads, became the site of a heavy police presence as investigators began working to gather evidence and speak to potential witnesses.
