GILBERT, AZ — With deep sorrow, the community of Towne Meadows Elementary School mourns the loss of Andrea Jung, a cherished teacher and mentor, who passed away following a courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones.
Andrea Jung, a longtime resident of Gilbert, Arizona, dedicated over a decade of her life to inspiring young minds in the classroom. Known for her warmth, patience, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child, she was more than an educator — she was a guiding light to students, colleagues, and parents alike.
“She had this incredible way of making every child feel seen and valued,” said Principal Lauren Marks. “Andrea taught with heart, and her presence in our school community was irreplaceable.”
A champion for inclusive education, Andrea Jung brought compassion and creativity into her teaching. Her classroom was often described as a safe haven — a place where curiosity thrived and kindness was the rule. Whether leading science experiments or sitting quietly with a struggling student, she gave her full self to those in her care.
Outside of the classroom, Andrea was deeply involved in community events and school activities, often volunteering her time to organize literacy nights, art shows, and student mentorship programs. Her colleagues recall her steady optimism and the thoughtful notes she left on desks just when someone needed encouragement.
Parents have expressed an outpouring of gratitude for the impact Andrea had on their children. “She believed in my son when no one else did,” said Angela Rivera, a parent of a former student. “She changed the course of his life.”
Andrea Jung is survived by her husband, two children, and a legacy of kindness and dedication that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Plans for a celebration of life and memorial service will be announced by her family in the coming days.
As the Towne Meadows community begins to process this loss, they do so with immense gratitude for a life that exemplified love, courage, and purpose. In the words of one colleague, “Andrea didn’t just teach — she transformed lives.”
She will be deeply missed.
